With so many new releases its difficult to know where to start, so why not at the beginning…Andrea Parker’s Aperture label continues to furrow and mine the outer reaches of electronica with an album combining the dual talents of Warp artists Mark Clifford (Seefeel) and Mira Calix. ‘Lost Foundling 1999 – 2004’ captures the 5 year period where they’d meet up from time to time, hang out, drink a lot of coffee, smoke too many cigarettes, stay up all night and make some noise. Lost Foundling captures a slice in time, a document of their discovery and experimentation as musicians, the songs have survived, unihibited, tender and instinctive.
And talking of digging up golden pieces of electronic music from a bygone era we see Alexander Robotnick’s classic 1984 masterpiece ‘Ce n’est q’un debut’ resurface in a freshly remastered version. If you need a history lesson in original italo-disco then look no further than the album’s standout tracks ‘Problemes D’Amour’ and ‘Dance Boy Dance’ which have influenced pretty much every contemporary producer today.
Next up we see the debut album from an artist sure to catch a few ears over the next 12 months. Tudor Acid aka Richard Wigglesworth releases his debut long player ‘Merri Portland’. Fusing Aphex style electronic musings and Autechre’s sonic shifting intensity with atmospheric and dancefloor soundscapes, Tudor Acid is all about taking the addictiveness of the acid line and applying this movement to all aspects of the sound.
Bulletdodge are also back with a bang. With four new EPs from the likes of Presuming Ed, Mark & Stevens, Nico Diorio and Ibiza Brothers we also witness the labels debut compilation taking in techno, minimal, tech-house and all points in between. Jace Syntax takes Mark Ambrose’s Crayon into ever deeper territory, DJ Shaun keeps it ‘Ghettotech’ on Databass, Egonoise ‘kicks da music’ on Dopefish and Krone keep delivering the house goods as both Bios and Syntheticz aptly show.
4Corners Crew bring garage and dubstep together on Hum Fi Dub, Justin Berman keeps it deep on Sudup with ‘a week of nights’, Vino finds ‘303love’ on Motech, Michael Fall ‘drops the beats’ with some sterling club house on La Musique Du Beau Monde, BIP head for the charts via El Rico and everybody’s favourite techno-amphibian, the Crazy Frog!
We also welcome three new labels to the fold in the shape of Glasgow’s Little Rock, Belgium’s Music Trixx and Spain’s VIP House Records…
Launched on 07/07/07 at 7.07am with 7 free download 7inches, Little Rock represents the best in glasgow and the UK’s underground / experimental / electronica avant-garde, with occasional excursions into techno, dub, ambient, disco and synth-pop. Influenced by new school net labels like Jahtari and Fresh Poulp, and older record labels like Factory, Rough Trade and Warp, Little Rock presents a diverse selection of quality sounds for many different ears. www.littlerockrecords.com ( http://www.littlerockrecords.com/ )
Music Trixx is Belgium’s youngest Trance Label that supports young upcoming talents. Labelowner Jan Vervloet goes back to his roots with the start of this fresh label. Trance is still alive and we will prove it to the world. V-Roy is the first talented producer who’s skills will be revealed on the new Music Trixx imprint. www.musictrixx.com ( http://www.musictrixx.com/ )
Jean Carles Ferrers roles include Club Deejay, Production manager, and owner of VIP House Records A&R and Label Manager. He was born in Pamplona in 1975. He started his musical career in the 90s, when he developed his own style, and reaching the professional maturity that is the main aspect of his career now. He is the promoter of well known parties such as “Ibiza Sound” and “North Party Dj Festival”, and has played in the best national and international discos and clubs. In 2005, he made his debut at Amnesia at the real “White Ibiza Night” and in “Lola’s Dance Club” (Ibiza). His running for Ibiza Night made him get to Cadena 100 Studio, taking part with his performances in “Cadena 100 Mix Ibiza Show”. In this show, the best electronic music players are involved every summer. He was also official resident in the TV Show “Tunningman”, on Channel Tele 5. His musical quality and professional experience are reflected in his own musical productions. He has made a fusion between different styles in order to get his own musical genre and has also edited a big number of records and compiled records with the best discographies. His productions are available in some of the most visited download websites of electronic music. http://www.myspace.com/viphouserecords ( http://www.myspace.com/viphouserecords )

As 2010 is now well and truly on the way, here at EPM we’re keeping up the dancefloor pressure with hundreds of new tracks to shout about as well as introducing three new labels to the roster in the guise of Edinburgh’s Cloak X Dagger, Leeds based LS City Records and Birmingham’s One Records.
The ever reliable Uncharted Audio lead the charge this week with the stunning electronica fusion of Cursor Miner’s Thismansadventure, Martyn Hare’s Tremors continue to take the dancefloor by the throat with more hi octane techno from POTO, DJ Dijital works dat booty on Twilight 76 and Shatterfreak find themselves ‘surplus to requirements’ on Intelligenix.
Audio Boutique drop two new releases that straddle the worlds of house and drum n bass, Darragh Casey keeps it on the house tip for Antiqua, BIP continue their assault for the dance charts with new house releases from Yinon Yahel and Ysa Ferrer and Mediadrive stir up a blizzard of house with 9 releases from the likes of Marty Fame, Arcadia, Electrosila, Tony Gastello, Gmorosov. 5tereophone and DJ Lvov.
Edinburgh based veteran emcee Profisee (Cloak) and female producer/vocalist ‘M’ (Dagger) have been involved in a plethora of different musical projects over the past 10 years. Now they collide to concentrate that creative energy into new project ‘Cloak X Dagger’. Their first promo was the digital EP ” Profisee – ‘What The Future Holds’ showcasing works rooted in electronica and hip-hop and championed by ‘BBC Radio 1 Scotland’, ‘Huw Stephans’ and the UK’s most imfamous pirate station ‘Rinse FM’. With musical influences ranging far and wide, 2009 will see them pushing releases out with San Francisco’s ‘Eprom’, ‘Ghislain Poirior’ and ‘Neil Landstrumm’. Expect thought provoking soundtracks and clubfloor styles hitting the airwaves and seeping through your speakers soon. http://www.myspace.com/cloakxdagger ( http://www.myspace.com/cloakxdagger )
LS City Records is to be a label of love. Set up by DJ and producer Jamie Fisher as a way of having complete control over the music he releases, rather than being at the mercy of various other label bosses, it’s an imprint born in Leeds and one which will showcase the city’s producing talent. As someone who has been label manager for other people before, he has good A&R experience, a thorough knowledge of the way things work and a healthy collection of contacts: all these things spurred Jamie into going it alone, the result of which comes in the form of his first release, his Shapes EP. A chunky slice of tech, it comes with remixes from rising stars Benny Royal and Lissat & Voltaxx.
Says Jamie of LS City’s outlook: ‘The label is just the outlet and should only have small say in the actual track and final sounds of the master – I don’t want to interfere too much, I want people to be able to express themselves and know their music will be put out as they want it to be.’ That approach has attracted artists such as Richard Dinsdale and Style of Eye who are penciled in for releases soon, and is sure to set the label in good stead. With such value placed on individual expression, then, LS City looks set to be a label which goes its own way, forging ahead in the realms of underground house and techno, so keep your ear out… www.myspace.com/lscityrecords ( http://www.myspace.com/lscityrecords )
Launching in November of 2009, Subb-an & Adam Shelton present One Records. Cultivated directly from four years experience at the helm of Below, one of the UK’s most upfront and authentic underground parties, the label aims to encapsulate the energy and dexterity of artists and crowds the night has connected with most. Look out for the first release in November: Subb-an & Shelton – Feel The Musik EP…More information soon on future releases and label parties. www.onerec.net ( http://www.onerec.net/ )

Sven Laux [1] is a Berlin based music producer with unique sound and some great releases on his account. The list of the labels is quite big (Archipel, Multi Vitamins, Seta Label, spontanMusik, etc.) and now we are happy he is joining Leporelo family. As it’s first Leporelo release in 2010 we think this year is going to be the year for us and we are really excited about this release. A Little Weird Wire EP contains 4 great tracks in Sven Laux’s “minimalistic – but still – groovy” style, all with great sound design, deep atmosphere and crazy arrangements. Let’s face it. These day, you get less and less of music of this quality and style and it becomes more and more unique. And we are happy we can release unique music.

First of all, a Happy New Year to you all. EPM kicks off into 2010 with hundreds of new tracks to keep you warm through the current freeze and we are also please to announce six new labels in the shape of Acroplane, Eins Rec, Invitro, Jexonex, Night Slugs and Revolt into Style.
We launch into 2010 with a label on a roll. Amsterdam’s Delsin continues to deliver the techno goods as Delta Funktionen get remixed by one of Berlin’s hottest producers in the guise of Marcel Dettman, EevoNext’s FRAKnoise delivers an album of sublime electronica, Mosca squares up on Night Slugs 001 and finally we have Nouvelle Vague’s massive selling first two albums from Peacefrog featuring the now classic covers of tracks like Love Will Tear Us Apart and Just Cant Get Enough. Coffee table dancing never sounded so good!
Martyn Hare once again cranks up the techno traction engine on Tremors with three new EPs, Christophe! Pumps up the house on The Hype Records, Invitro crash land with a motherload of new electronica from Cosmic Pocket, Deework, Subjex, Faz-L, Tep, Minitronic, Himuro, Eight Frozen Modules and Krumble and nutempo keep the minimal flag flying with new releases from Florian Tyack, (e)rik_MnMl, Rodrigo Diaz, S.Ayek and Starlight Duo. Needless to say it’s looking like another busy year already!
Acroplane Recordings is an electronica label based in Belfast, Northern Ireland. The organisation has run for approx 8 years under different digital label guises, but from 2010 has made the jump to become a commercial label. Musically very varied, notable artists include Somatic Responses, Boxcutter, Mad EP, Space Dimension Controller, Porcelain Minotaurs, Subeena, Mothboy, Ebola, Chevron, Igorrr and Koen Park, amongst many others. Their netlabel has collected several Phlow Magazine Bloggers world netlabel of the year awards in its time, and is regularly supported by BBC Radio 1, Electronic Explorations, Mantis Radio, and publications including Computer Music Magazine. http://www.acroplane.co.uk ( http://www.acroplane.co.uk/ )
Eins Rec can be considered as the little brother of the already successful labels No Preset and Disolent, being a sublabel of those two. Eins Rec was created with the aim to revolutionise the electronic music scene and also to release new avant guard content. It promises to be one of the big upcoming labels here in Spain and in Argentina as it counts on the same support of artists like Liko, J-Ka, Castro for example who already released with many local and international labels. www.myspace.com/einsrec ( http://www.myspace.com/einsrec )

In 2007, the likeminded DJs and producers Bok Bok & L-Vis 1990 came together to form Night Slugs. The collaboration saw a unique fusion of styles, from garage and grime/dubstep to global ghetto house, thru to deep and tech house.
In late 2008 the duo launched the flagship Night Slugs club party, which eventually found a shared home at London’s East Village and Egg nightclubs. The night presented the aforementioned concoction of global styles in a cohesive, party-orientated, soundsystem-style format inspired by legendary London future-garage nights such as FWD and DMZ. Since then the Night Slugs party has garnered a dedicated fan base and plenty of critical acclaim, while Bok Bok and L-Vis 1990 have been busy with original productions, remixes and extensive DJ schedules.
A diverse but distinct aesthetic has emerged over the course of Night Slugs’ 2 year existence. The brand has come of age, and to celebrate Bok Bok and L-Vis announce the launch of Night Slugs as a label. Dedicated to showcasing the type of cutting edge bangers that can be heard at their party, Night Slugs will be issuing both vinyl and digital EPs from some incredible talents, some already familiar and some completely new. Releases are already in the works from Mosca, Egyptixx, Kingdom (Fool’s Gold), Greena (Apple Pips), French Fries (Youngunz), Jam City as well as Bok Bok and L-Vis themselves. www.myspace.com/nightslugs ( http://www.myspace.com/nightslugs )
Revolt Into Style is a record label based in Glasgow, Scotland. We are affiliated with Latin American label Pinorec, releasing the music of their talented roster of artists. Our ultimate goal is to foster creative collaborations between musicians and producers from Europe and Latin America. We aim to showcase the best of the new South American beat-makers and musicians. Our stylistic remit is broad, with electronica, ghetto-house, digital cumbia, glitch-hop and dancehall in the mix. http://www.revoltintostyle.co.uk ( http://www.revoltintostyle.co.uk/ )
